L. Robert "Bob" Haessig
L. Robert "Bob" Haessig, 75, of Milan, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at home on January 15, 1935 in Aurora, the son of Loren and Alma (Roberts) Haessig. He married Joan Mosier in 1962 and she preceded him in death on October 2, 2009.
Survivors include daughters: Gretchen (Jim) Berger of Milan, and Andrea Haessig of Bellevue, KY; three grandchildren; three brothers: Donald Haessig and Nelson Haessig, both of Milan and Roger Haessig of Syracuse. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Mr. Haessig worked with his father at Haessig’s Market until he and his brother, Nelson, became owner’s in 1970. He was an Army Veteran serving from 1958-1960 and spending 18 months in Germany.
Visitation is being held today, Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday, from 10-11 a.m. at the Cook Funeral Home in Sunman. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Duane A. Loos officiating. Burial with graveside military honors will be in the St. Paul Cemetery in Sunman. Memorials may be given to the Sunman Volunteer Fire Department or the Sunman Life Squad. Cook Funeral Home, Sunman, is in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Gene Johnson

Bobby Gene Johnson, 78, of Colerain Township, formerly of Sunman, passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 26, 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; three children, Jerry (Brenda) Johnson of Milan, Linda Hall of Cincinnati, OH, and Gail (Tim) Frith of Milford, OH; seven grandchildren: Tracy Mullikin, Elizabeth Roell, Nicholas Johnson of Milan, Dustin Hall, Michael Frith, Lindsey Frith, Alex Hall of Cincinnati, OH; and seven great grandchildren.
Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp., a member of the American Legion Post of Mt. Healthy, Ohio. He worked for Brinks, Inc. from 1952 to 1989 as a messenger, and Western Southern Life Insurance from 1989 to 2010 as a security guard.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home in Mt. Healthy, Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 1 at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with military graveside services following at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul Methodist Cemetery in Sunman. William "Bill" Robert Aikins
William "Bill" Robert Aikins, 77, of Chapel Hill, NC, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Durham Regional Hospital. He was born April 28, 1933 in Osgood, the son of the late Delbert Downey Aikins and Mary Temple Delay Aikins Currie. He married Kaye Anne Davis Aikins on June 25, 1955 and she survives.
Other survivors include four children and six grandchildren: William Delay Aikins, William Robert Aikins, II, John William Davis Aikins and wife Eva Cowen Aikins and children William Davis Aikins and Henry Cowen "Skip" Aikins, and Pamela Aikins Pierce with her husband William David Pierce and children William David Pierce, Jr., Joseph Madison Pierce, Joshua Logan Pierce and Michael Ashton Pierce. He was also survived by niece Melissa Brown Paty and husband Ben Hooper Paty, Jr. and son Ben Hooper Paty III, cousin James Delay Bultman and wife Marsha Smith Bultman and children James Bradley Bultman and David Louis Bultman.
Mr. Aikins was educated at Osgood High School class of 1951 and was a Kappa Sigma at University of Mississippi-Oxford (Ole Miss) ’55. He served as Captain in the USAF OSI ‘55-’57 before a lifelong career as principle of Danville Distributing Co.
Funeral services were held at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Durham, NC on Monday, June 28 at 10 a.m. with burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Danville, VA at 4 p.m. Funeral arrangements were handled by Townes Funeral Home, Danville, VA. Emalene C. Delap
Emalene C. Delap, 80, of Elrod, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born at Greendale on January 11, 1930, the daughter of Robert and Hilda Fillenwarth Brandt. She was married to Harland Delap on May 9, 1953 and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Debra (Lee) Cutter and Darlene (Martin) Ruehl, both of Elrod; grandchildren, Casey, Brandon and Andy Ruehl, and Derek Cutter, all of Elrod; one sister, Betty Jean Sandbrink of Winter Springs, Florida; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Brandt of Thornton, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Brandt.
Mrs. Delap was a 1948 graduate of Aurora High School. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dillsboro, where she participated in the ELWC and the fellowship group. She was a former employee of the Alton Box Company in Aurora and Thatcher Glass Company in Greendale. She had also been a sales consultant for Avon.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19, at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Jeremy Russell and Keith Allhands officiating. Burial was in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, the heart fund, or the Friendship Fire Department in care of the funeral home.

JoAnn Brinson
JoAnn Brinson, 75, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born at Benham on July 28, 1934, the daughter of Basil and Eva Fern Welch Steele. She was married to Clair Brinson on March 21, 1953, and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Brinson and Marty (Dawn) Brinson, both of Versailles; two daughters, Diana Sturgill of Norton, Virginia, and Kathy (Roy) Dobbs of New Marion; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; son-in-law, Earl Phelps of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one brother, Arthur Steele of Lawrenceburg; and one sister, Gladys (Kenny) Hayes of Benham. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Marilyn Phelps, her son-in-law Jerry Sturgill, her sister Reta Demaree, and her brothers Dale, Russell, and Albert Steele.
Mrs. Brinson was a former employee of Braley’s Clover Leaf Store in Versailles and was also a homemaker. She had attended the Concord Wesleyan and Versailles Wesleyan churches.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. John Hundley of the Versailles Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial was in the Benham Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Wesleyan Church or the Benham Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Sondra Joyce Frey
Sondra Joyce Frey, 74, of Dillsboro, formerly of Moores Hill, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Dearborn County Hospital. She was born October 24, 1935, in Milan, the daughter of Joseph and Fay Moehring. She married Robert D. Frey on February 9, 1954 and he preceded her in death on July 28, 2007.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Natalie) Frey, Jr., of Wyoming and Darvin (Melissa) Frey of Kentucky; one daughter, Brenda (Bruce) Roeder of Dillsboro; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Tracy Brown, and one granddaughter, both in 1987.
Mrs. Frey was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Moores Hill for many years.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 21, at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro with Rev. Charlie McKinley officiating. Burial was in the South Sparta Cemetery in Moores Hill. Joann Barbara Cole
Joann Barbara Cole, 69, of Batesville, formerly of Versailles passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Waters of Batesville. She was born at Milan on February 19, 1941 the daughter of Owen and Anna Bushhorn Cross.


Survivors include two daughters Michelle (Rodney) Sellers and Katrina (Jerry) Keck both of Versailles; two sons Dwayne (Marci) Cole of Hanover and Joe (Saradee) Cole of Versailles; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers David (Mary Chris) Cross of Milan and Earl (Sharon) Cross of Aurora; two sisters Delores Benham of Milan and Joyce (Richard) Meyer of Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Janet Cross.
Mrs. Cole was a 1959 graduate of Milan High School and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Batesville. She was a former employee of US Shoe at Osgood and Ohio Rod Products in Versailles.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 16 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Batesville with Bishop Pete Watkins officiating. Burial will be in the Craven Cemetery at Milan. Visitation is being held Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church. Gary L. Setser
Gary L. Setser, 62, of Versailles, formerly of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born at Hamilton on December 15, 1947, the son of Ernest and Pruda Day Setser. He was married to Mary Ann Hardy in 1992 and she preceded him in death in 2006.
Survivors include his mother, Pruda Setser of Versailles; son, Shawn Setser of Tampa, FL; daughter, Tiffany (Jason) Wilmot of Middletown, OH; grandchildren, Riley Wilmot, Brittany, Ricky, and Dustin Setser; aunts, Lillie Hisle of Greenfield, Mary Ellen Thieman and Pauline (Irvin) Hart, both of Versailles; uncles Dale (LaVerne) Day, Joe (Peggy) Day and Tom (Lorine) Day, all of Versailles. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Dale.
Mr. Setser was a former employee of Elder Beerman in Hamilton and also with Goodwill. He was a member of the New Testament Christian Church.

Eva Marie Lemen Crum
Eva Marie Lemen Crum, 78, of Madison, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. She was born December 3, 1931 in Osgood, the daughter of Chancie W. Lemen and Naomi Black Lemen. She married Robert H. Crum on November 19, 1950 and he survives.
Other survivors include son, Bruce R. (Sheila) Crum of Madison; daughter, Drue Crum (Steve) Decker of Hartland, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Darcie (Brad) Comer, Kyle (Laura) Crum, Scott, Laura and Amy Decker; two great grandchildren, Grant and Elijah; brother, Sherman (Jean) Lemen; three sisters, Mary Ellen Hammersley, Phyllis Courtaney, Winnie Hetrick; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Carl, Buddy, Chancie Jr., Joe and Dick, as well as sisters Dorothy and Alberta.
Mrs. Crum was raised in Ripley County and was a graduate of Versailles High School. She was employed in the personnel department of Reliance Electric and retired after 30 years of service. Eva was a member of the North Madison Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre with Bro. Bob Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery in Osgood. Sarah Ann Wooley Semon Dunaway, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010. She was born September 26, 1930 in Osgood, the daughter of the late Charles and Beamont Ewing Wooley. She married Floyd William Semon in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1978. She later married Curtis Dunaway in 1998 and he preceded her in death in 2001.
Survivors include daughter, Linda (Barry) Rose of Lawrence; sons, Tony Semon of Indianapolis, John (Wendi) Semon of Martinsville, and Thomas (Lorette) Semon of Holly Springs, NC; 19 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Charles "Bud" (Sharon) Wooley of Osgood; and sister, Betty Canada of Covington, KY.
Services will held on Wednesday, June 9, at 10 a.m. at the Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday. Fred Martin
Fred Martin, 84, of Milan and formerly of Dillsboro, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Milan. He was born March 9, 1926 in Brutus, Kentucky, the son of Frank and Lucy (Barrett) Martin. He married Ethel (Rouse) Martin in 1971 and she preceded him in death in 1996.
Survivors include sister, Sarah Peters of North Vernon and several cousins and friends.
Mr. Martin was a well known banjo player in area churches. He was a WWII Army Veteran, and a member of the Hope Baptist Church and the Dillsboro American Legion Post.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 1 p.m. at the Hope Baptist Church in Dillsboro with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Green Cemetery near Elrod with military honors conducted by the Dillsboro and Milan American Legions. Troy Edward (Ed) Adams
Troy Edward (Ed) Adams, 84, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at his residence. He was born March 1, 1926 in Omaha, Kentucky, the son of William Randolf and Phoebe Jane (Profitt) Adams. He married Lois N. (Seals) Adams on May 27, 1949 and she survives.
Mr. Adams retired from Schenley Distillers after 31 years of service and also was a retired carpenter. Ed was a member and Deacon of the Milan First Baptist Church; a member of the Milan F&AM Masonic Lodge #31; a former member of the Milan IOOF Odd Fellows Lodge; the Helping Hands CB club of which his handle was "Lancer"; a life member of the Carpenters Union #1142; the National Rifle Association; Sons of the American Legion; Tri-State Trail Riders; Captain and member of the Irish Bowl 250 Club; a member and former president of the Greater Cincinnati Bowling Association; former board member of Craven Cemetery; and sang and played the banjo with the Nashville Rejects. He loved horses and was proud of the buggy he had made.
Ed is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois; two daughters, Sandra Jane Cook Sieber of Milan and Judalane (Judie) Jones of Bright; three grandchildren, Jason Edward Richie, Robert Troy Cook, and Adam Andrew Cook; seven great grandchildren, Shelly, Chase and Jonathan Troy (J.T.) Cook; Tyler, Jackson, Georgia, and Emma Jo Richie. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen R. Richie.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at the Milan First Baptist Church with Pastor Harris Long officiating. He will be carried to his final resting place in Craven Cemetery by a horse drawn caisson followed by his handmade buggy. Masonic services were held Monday at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Dennis R. Fletcher
Dennis R. Fletcher, 46, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at his home. He was born in Cincinnati on October 22, 1963, the son of Grover and Joyce Campbell Fletcher.
Survivors include two sons, Lance Corporal Chad Fletcher Lowe who is serving with the Marines in Okinawa and William Fletcher Lowe of Seymour; one daughter, Genevieve Fletcher of Seymour; his parents, Grover and Joyce Fletcher of Versailles; two brothers, David (Tonya) Fletcher of Milan and Timothy Fletcher of Cincinnati, OH; one sister, Vickie Fletcher of Osgood; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Sandra Fletcher.
Mr. Fletcher was a former employee of Rough Brothers Construction in Cincinnati, OH.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family under the direction of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Sam Roberts, age 80, of Bennington (Bear Branch) passed away Friday, May 28, 2010 at his home.
Two daughters, Mary Lou Roberts at home and Carol Ann (Jay) Weaver; five sons, John (Jennifer) Roberts, Sam (Laura) Roberts, Eddie Ray Roberts, Vernon (Darlene) Roberts and Kenny (Mary) Roberts survive him.
