Ronald L. Rose, Jr., 24, of Milan, has been charged with Rape, a Class B Felony. The charges were filed last week in Ripley County Circuit Court by Prosecutor Ric Hertel.
According to court records, the alleged rape occurred “on or about the 6th day of February, 2010.

The court documents go on to say Rose had sexual intercourse with a member of the opposite sex who was “mentally disabled or deficient that consent to sexual intercourse could not have been given”.

The probable cause affidavit reads in part “According to school records of (the victim) she had moderate cognitive disability.” It went on to say the victim has an I.Q. between 54-56.

At the time of the alleged rape, the victim would have been barely 16 years of age.
The victim told police she was first asked to text a picture of herself to Rose and then gives details of the rape.

Rose first told police the victim has “never set foot” into the apartment where he and another friend were on February 6, 2010. Later he said the victim did go into the apartment for a few minutes.

Rose was arrested on the charge of rape and bail was set at $150,000. He bonded out for $15,000 cash.

Jury trial has been set in the rape case for November 30, 2010.

Rose has other charges pending against him in Ripley County Circuit Court. He was arrested for Aggravated Battery and Domestic Battery in February for an incident that allegedly occurred in December of 2009. Bail was set in that case at $100,000. He paid the $10,000 cash and was out on bond when the second alleged incident occurred. A trial by jury has been set in the battery case for August 31.
