Marjorie Ann Oakley-Snelling
Marjorie Ann Oakley-Snelling, age 68, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Dearborn County Hospital. She was born September 30, 1941, in Kentucky, the daughter of Otto Snelling and Carrie (Harrington) Snelling. She married Robert Oakley on April 7, 1959 and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2002.
Survivors include six children, Robert (Carolyn) Oakley, Jr. of Greendale, Karen (Gary) Leasure of Aurora, Sherri Porter of Hebron, KY, Deborah (Mitch) Bergman of Milan, Phyllis McGownd of Lawrenceburg, and Teresa Conley of Erlanger, KY; 14 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Gene Snelling of Aurora; and one sister, Francis Rogers of Ft. Mitchell, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a granddaughter, Misty Leasure in 2005.
Marjorie was employed as a supervisor and care giver at the group homes in Lawrenceburg and Aurora for many years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 28, at 11 a.m. at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro with Rev. Tommy Johnson and Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Friends may meet her family at the funeral home on Friday, August 27, from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Heart Fund, the Cancer Society or to the family. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home, Dillsboro is in charge of arrangements

Paul H. Connelley
Paul H. Connelley, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Milan, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at his home. He was born August 14, 1918, in Hattiesburg, MS, the son of Paul C. and Marie F. (Wise) Connelley. He married Floretta Simpson and she preceded him in death on May 17, 1998.
Survivors include four children, Linda Kurtz of DE, Nancy (Gerard) Westover of WV, Paul Connelley of ND, and James (Patty) Connelley of MD; a sister, Polly; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Mr. Connelley graduated from Milan High School and went on to college at Indiana University.
A private service was held in Moorhead, MN, on August 23. Arrangements were handled by Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead, MN.

Charles Donald Griffis
Charles Donald Griffis, 75, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 27, at 11 a.m. at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill with burial following in the Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Visitation is being held today, Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home with Masonic services at 7:45 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Dillsboro or Moores Hill Rescue Units. L. Wayne Perry
L. Wayne Perry, 92, of Moores Hill, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20 at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home at Moores Hill with burial being held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, Illinois. Military rites will be conducted at gravesite. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home. Eastern Star services will be at 7:30 p.m. and Masonic services at 7:45 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Lloyd C. Walston
Lloyd C. Walston, 76, of Aurora, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010 at Dearborn County Hospital at Lawrenceburg. He was born on December 4, 1933 in Boone County, Kentucky, the son of Ivan Floyd and Dora May (Ryle) Walston. He married Elizabeth (Lee) Walston in November of 1957 and she preceded him in death in November 2007.
Survivors include brothers, Billy (Paula) Walston, Floyd (Iris) Walston, and Dick Walston, all of Aurora, W.S. (Kitty) Walston of Greendale, Wayne Walston of Arizona; sisters, Barbara Walston of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Donna Joy Rogers of Versailles. He was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Jo Chalk and Mary Cochran; and brothers, Jerry and Marvin Jo Walston.
Mr. Walston had worked at Draper Plumbing and Heating and retired from Schenley Distillers. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges at Aurora and the Aurora American Legion.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 20, at 8 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan, with Rev. Mike Addison officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Aurora American Legion Post. Visitation will also be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Holman Christian Union Church in care of the funeral home. Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, is in charge of arrangements.

George G. Vollmer, 88, of Osgood, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Services are pending at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood.

Robert Gene Borgman
Robert Gene Borgman, 81, of Osgood, passed away Monday, August 9, 2010 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born June 16, 1929 in Ripley County, the son of Harris and Bertha Bush Borgman. He married Eileen Julia Linville on November 12, 1946 and she survives at home.
He is survived by a sister, Joan Smith of Northern Indiana. He was preceded in death by daughter, Judith Ann Borgman; four brothers, Maurice, Chester, Harold and Malcolm Borgman; and three sisters, Thelma Jennings, Ellen Lutz and Betty Penny.
Mr. Borgman was a Korean Marine Veteran. He was a member of the Osgood American Legion. He was a past employee of Nestles, located in Osgood years ago. Robert was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon.
Visitation is being held today, Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 13, at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery, Napoleon. Memorials may be given to the St. John’s Cemetery in care of Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, who is in charge of arrangements.

Esther M. Youngman

Esther M. Youngman, 93, of Napoleon, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Esther was born on October 27, 1916, in Napoleon, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Meyer Kohlman. She married Charles Youngman on June 30, 1948 and he preceded her in death in August of 1986. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Louis, Charles and Leonard Kohlman, and a sister, Alma Thole.
Mrs. Youngman had been a member of the St. Maurice Catholic Church.
Memorials may be given to the St. Maurice New Hall Building Fund in care of Neal’s Funeral Home, Osgood, who is in charge of arrangements.

Cornelius Knigga, 86, of Decatur, Alabama, and formerly of Dearborn County, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 7, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Manchester, near Sunman. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. also at the church. Richard G. Ontiveros
Richard G. Ontiveros, 69, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at his home. He was born December 13, 1940, in Santa Monica, CA, the son of Felix and Concha (Marquez) Ontiveros. He married Barbara Gorman Ontiveros on May 8, 1992 and she survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Rebecca (Damon) Hatcherson and Teresa (Anthony) Hurtado, both of California; brothers, Efren (Christine) Ontiveros of Virginia; sister, Michaelyn Marquez of California; brother-in-laws, Russell (Melanie) Gorman of Missouri and Jim Gorman of California; sister-in-law, Patti Smith of Milan; nine grandchildren and one great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Ontiveros, Jr., in 2001.
Mr. Ontiveros was a retired grounds manager for Cal State Dominguez Hills University in Carson, California. He was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church at Milan and a former member of the Moose Lodge.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 6, at 1 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, with Father Frank Eckstein officiating. Burial will follow in New Craven Cemetery at Milan. Visitation will also be Friday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
