Show to begin Wednesday

The
108th Versailles Pumpkin Show will get underway Wednesday, September
22 with opening ceremonies at 5:00 p.m. on the stage on the north
side of the courthouse in Versailles.
Kristen Hobbs will perform from 5:15 to 6:00, with the South Ripley
Young Confederates on stage from 6:15 to 6:45. The King and Queen
Contest will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by music by Over the
Edge at 8:30 p.m. Note times in The Versailles Republican last
week were not correct. Wednesday is also one ticket ride night.
Thursday night entertainment will include live music by Firequest
a Christian music band, the Prince and Princess Contest at 7 p.m.,
sponsored by Ripley Publishing Co., followed by a Pumpkin Pie
Eating Contest with seniors from area schools participating.
Friday the rides will open at 5:00 p.m. with a night full of musical
stage entertainment you won't want to miss.
Saturday, the annual parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tyson
Street near the old Tyson School building. Weighing in of the
giant pumpkins will be at 8:00 a.m. at Gilpin Monuments on US
421 in Versailles just south of the stoplight.
Saturday will continue with a full day with the kids pumpkin decorating
contest, pedal tractor pull and race, lots of live music and the
cheerleading contest.
