Floyd William Reuter
Floyd William Reuter, 87, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, passed away July 29, 2010. He was the son of William and Luva (Bohlke) Reuter. He was the husband of 57 years of the late Dorothy Harriett (Smith) Reuter.
Survivors include children, Linda (John) Davis of IL, Cheryl (Ronald) Ashcroft of MI, Barbara (Brian) Greenwood of TX; nine grandchildren; brother of Wilma (William Ray) Price, the late Glenn (Blanche) Reuter, Jeannette (the late Wilgus Edmond) Coyle, and Marian (Robert) Gleason.
Mr. Reuter was raised on the family farm north of Milan. He attended Wittenberg College, Springfield, Ohio, joining Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, later transferring to Purdue University to study agricultural engineering. He served during WWII in Italy with the US Army’s 196th Signal Photographic Company. He was confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church at Stumpke’s Corner, near Milan.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 25, at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, north of Milan. The Rev. Chuck Britt will officiate. Military rites will be performed by the Milan American Legion Post #235. Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, is handling arrangements.

Richard F. Danzey
Richard F. Danzey, 67, of Sunman, passed away August 2, 2010 at Margaret Mary Hospital at Batesville. He was born on April 28, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Francis M. and Thelma (Fields) Danzey. He married Mary (Fravel) Danzey on July 13, 1968 and she survives.
Other survivors include brothers, Gerald (Pat) Danzey, Kenneth (Joan) Danzey, and Phillip (Karen) Danzey, all of Ohio; sisters, Debbie (John) Bedford and Judy Bennett and Betty (Albert) Delsanter, all of Ohio; brother and sister-in-law Fran and Ted Lane of Florida; and brother and sister-in-law Jack and Judy Fravel of Ohio. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Danzey.
Mr. Danzey was a self employed contractor and was an avid computer operator. He was a charter member of the Batesville YMCA.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 26 at 1 p.m. at the Batesville YMCA with Father Frank Eckstein presiding. Visitation will follow the services. Memorials may be given to the Southeast Indiana YMCA at Batesville. Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan is entrusted with the arrangements.

Betty Lou Mathews Ritchie
Betty Lou Mathews Ritchie, 68, of Madison, passed away Monday, September 6, 2010 at her home. She was born on October 26, 1941 in Jefferson County, the daughter of John Mathews and Opal Poling Mathews Higginbotham. She married James Irvin "Jim" Ritchie on January 25, 1959 and he preceded her in death on June 29, 2009.
Survivors include one daughter, Dena (Mark) Potochny of Madison; two sons, James (Nancy) Ritchie of Fort Wayne, and Mike (Diane) Ritchie of Chicago, IL; brother, Charles Mathews of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Matt, Keli, Alex, Krystina, Tyler, Savannah, Brendan, Steven and Christopher; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; stepsisters and stepbrothers, Sonja, Priscilla, Linda, Janet, Edwina, Darrell and Rick. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her stepmother, Lorraine Mathews, and twin granddaughters, Annaleise and Emily.
Mrs. Ritchie was raised in the Cross Plains community and was a graduate of Madison High School. She was of the Baptist faith. She had worked as a baby-sitter and also at the Madison Consolidated Junior High School for 24 years working as a cafeteria manager and custodian.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at 11 a.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with Bro. Doug Lee officiating and visitation from 10 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison. Memorials may be given to the Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society, contribution cards are available at the funeral home. Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Knigga
Dorothy Knigga, 94, of Versailles passed away Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Waters of Ross Manor at Dillsboro. She was born at Friendship on March 30, 1916, the daughter of Herbert and Lillian Rost Steingruber. She was married to Raymond Knigga on April 15, 1944 and he preceded her in death on September 7, 1993.
Survivors include one daughter, Rosella (Willard) Elliott of Versailles; four granddaughters, Denise (Mark) Roosa of Bradenton, Florida, Cassandra (Darrin) Cutter of Dillsboro, Shannon (Scott) Peetz of Versailles, and Mendy (Kris) Cranfill of Versailles; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Rev. Paul Steingruber, her niece Janice Steingruber, and her grandson John Ray Elliott.
Mrs. Knigga was a former resident of Bear Branch in Switzerland County and was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Bear Branch. She was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 7 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. David Blazier and Pastor Pamela Shiede officiating. Burial was in St. Peter’s Cemetery at Olean. Memorials may be given to the Activities Fund at Ross Manor or St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.

Jeremy Alan Garrett
Jeremy Alan Garrett, 34, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at his home. He was born on March 9, 1976, in Seymour, the son of Thomas and Linda Robison Garrett of North Vernon.
Surviving are his parents; grandmother, Stella Robison of Bargersville; two brothers, Rodney (Heida) Garrett of North Vernon and Christopher (Larissa) Garrett of Versailles; seven nieces, Tricia and Samantha Garrett, both of North Vernon, Michelle Garrett of Greensburg, Ashley Franklin, Janna Lloyd, Suzanne and Ellie Fiset, all of Versailles; two nephews, Johnathan Garrett of North Vernon, and Tony Lloyd of Versailles; two uncles, Maurice (Dianne) Robison of North Vernon, and Pat (Jo) Garrett of Seymour; two aunts, Reva (Larry) Porter of Bargersville, and Rita (Stanley) Hall of Southport.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, M. Eldon Robison, Carl O. Garrett and Ica M. Garrett; an aunt Twila Banister, and an uncle Donald Banister
Mr. Garrett was a 1994 graduate of Jennings County High School and received his associate degree from Jefferson Community & Technical College in Louisville, KY. He was employed at Jefferson Community & Technical College as an IT Support Specialist since 2007. Before that he worked for UPS in Louisville, Lowes Distribution Center in North Vernon, Mac-TAC in Walesboro, and EISAN in Seymour. Jeremy attended 1st Church of Nazarene in Seymour.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 4 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with Rev. Mark Wooten officiating. Burial was in the Hayden Cemetery in Hayden. Jerome R. Koetter
Jerome R. Koetter, 63, of Scottsburg, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 11, from 3-5 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Brookville. Funeral services will immediately follow at the funeral home. Additional services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be given to the funeral home to assist with expenses. Walter L. Firsich
Walter L. Firsich, 86, of Connersville, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010 in Fayette Regional Health System. He was born in Batesville on July 30, 1924, the son of Elsie (Kessens) Enzinger and William Firsich.
Survivors include ex-wife, Mildred Becraft of Everton; daughter-in-law, Karren Firsich of Everton; son, Christopher (Kimberly) of Everton; three daughters, Elsie (Ron) Eckstein, Annita (Matt) Montgomery, and Annette Firsich all of Connersville; two sisters, Elsie June Hurelbrink of Versailles, and Annabelle M. Vreeland of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Firsich; son, Charles Firsich; three grandchildren, Charles Firsich Jr., Jonathan Firsich, and Darren Firsich.
Mr. Firsich served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received an honorable discharge, having earned the rank of Private First Class. He was employed at Philco-Ford in Connersville and later their successor, Visteon, retiring after 49 years of service. He was also an active farmer.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at 1 p.m. at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville. Burial will be in the United Methodist Cemetery, Batesville, with military rites provided by the Batesville American Legion Post Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Fayette County Cancer Fund in care of the funeral home.

Virginia Irene (Cole) McVay, 82, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 12, from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Sunman.
