Taxing units such as schools, cities, townships, etc. who depend on county monies to operate, will not have to worry about getting their draws this year. Anyway, they won’t have to worry on account of the local office.

Ripley County Auditor Bill Wagner was pleased to announce that his office was the first in the state to have everything accounted for and sent to the state. Actually, the local government entity submitted their report on November 18 and it was approved by 7 a.m. the next day.

Wagner was quick to say it was a group effort on the part of everyone who works in his office. “I’ve got a great group,” he told the Osgood Journal. He noted in particular that Amber May has helped him tremendously with the effort. Other employees in the office include: Danielle Peetz, Lisa Vestal and Marilyn Hunt.

The local office has to get their information to the state with the paperwork being accounted for and balanced. Then it goes to the state for approval, then Wagner can cut checks. He said the “fall settlement” usually isn’t done until January, so this is a great feat, one he hopes to continue.

Wagner’s office was commended from other auditor’s offices across the state as well as from state officials.
