Becky Herrick of Milan captures
third consecutive "Run/Walk the Park" overall female walk title

A beautiful fall morning highlighted the 8th Annual Fall Run/Walk the Park held at the Versailles State Park on Saturday, November 13.
The race got underway around 10 a.m. after a warm welcome to event participants and observers by race organizer Jim Cole. Cole emphasized that participants signing on to walk were not to run and that if they ran during any part of the race they would be disqualified from winning walk awards. (Racers must sign up at the beginning of the race as run or walk competitors).
Overall Walk Winners
Becky Herrick of Milan returned to capture her third consecutive Run/Walk the Park first place overall female walk award in :37.42. Herrick's two previous races were won as a 30-39 age group. She claims her third title in her first year as a 40-49 age group competitor.
Nice job Becky!
Tony Montgomery of Versailles as a 50-59 age group walker earned the first place overall Male Walker Award, Montgomery completed his 5K walk in a time of :36.29.
Overall Run Winners
Earning the overall Male Run Title Ron Perry of Versailles completing the course in just :17.51. Perry as the winner also led his team "Perryville" across the finish line.
Capturing the Overall Female Run First place title was Bridget Bruns of Batesville. She ran the course in a total time of :21.21.
Overall Master Winners
Earning the overall Master Male Run Title was Jeff Binzen of Osgood, completing the course in a time of :19.09. Binzen also led his team "Bara-runners" across the finish line.
Capturing the Overall Master Female Run First place title was Cindy Batta of West Harrison. She completed the course in :23.08.
The ages of competitors ranged from seven to 73 with Nickolas Laswell and Tara Young of Osgood filling the youngest bill, while Gerald Laswell of Versailles was the eldest competitor registered for the race.

One of the last really great weather days to be enjoyed in the balance of 2010 was most greatly appreciated on Saturday, November 12, as the 8th Annual "Run the Park" was held at the Versailles State Park in Ripley County.
