Virginia (Ginny) Struckman
Virginia "Ginny" Struckman, 86, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Dearborn County Hospital at Lawrenceburg. She was born February 5, 1925 in Covington, Kentucky, the daughter of Mose and Mary Margaret (Reffett) Dennis. She married Leroy Struckman on June 13, 1945, and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2008.
Ginny was a member of the Manchester Church of Christ and the Prayer and Share Bible Study Group at Versailles. She had worked as parts manager at Struckman Ford in Osgood and on the farm.
Ginny is survived by sons Cletus (Marilyn) Struckman of Milan, Paul Struckman of Osgood, Clifford Struckman of Milan and LeRoy Struckman of Milan; daughter Suzy (Kermit) Johnson of Milan; brothers Richard Dennis and William Dennis and sisters Phyllis Gosney and Marie Elliott, all of Northern Kentucky; 17 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers Kenneth and Omer Dennis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, 707 S. Main St., Milan, IN 47031, with Rev. Charlie Steele and Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will follow in the German Lutheran Cemetery, north of Milan. Visitation will be Friday, April 1, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the German Lutheran Cemetery. William W. Ralston
William W. Ralston, 64, formerly of Holton, IN, passed away at his home in Tennessee on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
He is survived by his wife Shirley (Vermillion) Ralston and five children, son William (Mary) Ralston of Holton, daughters Donna (Delbert) Felix, Cindy (Doug) Puckett of Osgood, Karen (Vince) Erfmeir of Napoleon and Lisa (Randy) Thomas of Mt. Gilead, TN; ten grandkids and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by one son, his parents and two brothers.
Memorial services will be held at Dabney Baptist Church from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011.

Esther L. Edmondson
Esther L. Rohrig Edmondson, 77, of Sunman, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 21, 2011, after passing away peacefully at her residence. Esther was born September 15, 1933, at Milan, the daughter of Harvey and Dorothy (Brandt) Lauber. She married Roy Rohrig in 1954 and he passed away in 1969. She later married Guy Edmondson in 1973 and he preceded her in death in 1988. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dale Rohrig in 1981.
Mrs. Edmondson was a cashier at Clover Farm Grocery for four years and later worked at Dryer’s Nursing Home. She was very active with the Farm Bureau having served as secretary/treasurer for District 10 for 20 plus years, and was a county board member 1957-1962, and 1976 to the present. She was a 4-H leader and also was an MYF leader and had held numerous offices in the St. Paul Methodist Church which she joined at the age of 10. She had served on the Red Cross board for six years and also was a historical board member. She enjoyed doing upholstery work, cooking, collecting antiques, her farm and was well known for her biannual camp-outs at her farm.
Esther is survived by son, Wayne Rohrig of Milan; daughters, Carla Rohrig of Sunman and Bonnie Smith of Milan; brothers, Bob (Posey) Lauber of Sunman, Donnie (Peggy) Lauber of Westville, Florida; sisters, Bernetta Dobson of Floyds Knobs, Indiana and Janice Hosmer of Sunman; grandchildren, Rachel Sheets, Erica, Jessica and Lucy Rohrig and Zack Smith, step children, Tom, Dan, Larry, Jackie, and Gary Edmondson and many friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul Methodist Church, south of Sunman with Pastor Duane Loos officiating. Burial followed in the St. Paul Methodist Cemetery. Donnie Faye Mays Spicer
Donnie Faye Mays Spicer, 64, of Commiskey, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at her home. She was born on September 26, 1946 in Lovett, the daughter of the late Samuel and Laura Sipe Mays. She was united in marriage to Gene Edmund Spicer on October 27, 1970 in Madison, and he survives.
Other survivors include her daughters, Danelle Spicer of Dupont and Helen Bruce (Mark) of Commiskey; sons, George Spicer and his companion, Steve Westerfeld of Holton, Raymond Spicer (Heike) of Hayden, and Jeffery Spicer of Commiskey; grandchildren, Kevin, Timmy, Sarah, Tia, Tyler, Ashley, Rayann, Kelcey and Vanessa; ten great grandchildren; brothers, Jack Mays, Dudley Mays (Debbie), Ronnie Mays (Debbie) and Fred Mays; sisters, Barbara Derringer and Marlene Bohall; brother-in-law, Jerry Spicer (Ronda); and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Robert and Larry Mays.
Mrs. Spicer attended school in Jennings County, and was baptized at the Weston Baptist Church. She was president and CEO of Faye-Ed Farms in Dupont, and was also a longtime bus driver for the Madison Consolidated School District.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at 11 a.m., by Chaplain Wayne Edwards and Chaplain Richard Yeaton at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, in Madison. Burial will follow in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Martha Williams
Martha Williams, 100, formerly of Burlington, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011, at Ripley Crossing Nursing Home in Milan. She married Forest Hamblin and he preceded her in death. She married J.C. Williams and he also preceded her in death.
Martha was a homemaker and a member of the Burlington Baptist Church.
Survivors include son, Harold (Glenda) Hamblin of Cincinnati, OH; daughters, Irene (Bob) Dart of Deputy and June (Walter) Kieffer of Versailles; sister, Nettie Ball of Mainville, OH; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 31 great great grandchildren.

Anita DeVries
Anita DeVries, age 92, a resident of Ripley Crossing in Milan, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 15, 2011 at Ripley Crossing. Mrs. DeVries was born in Grand Rapids, MI and was a resident there until moving to Ripley Crossing to be closer to her son and his wife, Kenneth and Ginny DeVries, of Dillsboro.
Anita worked as a bookkeeper at various companies in Grand Rapids, and in her free time painted pictures, some of which are in her sons funeral home in Dillsboro. She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church for many years in Grand Rapids, and since moving here in 2006 she was a member of Dillsboro United Methodist Church.
Surviving besides her son and his wife, are three grandchildren, Kenneth (wife Wendy) DeVries Jr., of Pleasant Lake, MI, Deborah (husband Dustin) Wellman, of Houghton, Iowa, and Jason DeVries, of Dillsboro; four great grandchildren, Remington, Trey, and Madelyn Wellman, of Iowa, and Rachel DeVries, of Pleasant Lake, MI; a sister-in-law, Hazel DeVries of Grand Rapids, MI and a special nephew and his wife, Bob and Judy VanderVeen, of Jenison, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary DeVries on September 6, 2003 and by her brother, Jay P. VanderVeen.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 12 noon at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, MI, with Pastor Charles Miller officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Grandville Cemetery. Iris "Kay" Lockwood

Iris "Kay" Lockwood, 77, of Lawrenceburg, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the home of her daughter. She was born Wednesday, October 4, 1933, in Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Clift) Hedrick.
She is survived by her two sons, Lance (Cindy) Lockwood; Kent (Elaine) Lockwood; two daughters, Lois Lockwood-Hickey and Robin Lockwood; four sisters, Judy Wilson, Bonnie Justice, Nicki Hodges, and Tracy Fleek; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lockwood; son, Mark Lockwood; son-in-law, Wayne Hickey; brother, Eddie Hedrick; and sister, Sherry Smith.

Robert W. Lockwood
Robert W. Lockwood, 81, of Lawrenceburg, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at his home. He was born Tuesday, October 30, 1928, in Cincinnati, OH, the son of the late Lawrence and Maude (Collins) Lockwood.
He is survived by two sons, Lance (wife Cindy) Lockwood, Kent (wife Elaine) Lockwood; two daughters, Lois Lockwood-Hickey, Robin Lockwood; sister, Audrey Starkey; and two half sisters, Lanna Hughes, Bille Lee Toefler; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

James R. Sheets
James R. Sheets, 94, of Cambridge City, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Ambassador Health Care in Centerville, Indiana. He was born on December 16, 1916 in Dabney, the son of Russel Clare and Ollie Ethel Raney Sheets. He married Virginia Shewman on February 8, 1942, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2004.
Survivors include daughter, Glenda (Steve) Centers of West Peoria, IL; two sons, Douglas M. (Christina Clevenger) Sheets of Centerville, and Darryl J. Sheets of Cambridge City; six grandchildren, Shamra Cochran Noy, Scott and Chris Cochran all of IL, Justin Sheets of NJ, Amanda Sheets Sims of Indianapolis, Stacy Sheets of KY and a step grandchild Brandy Hamilton Crawford of MN; six great-grandchildren; three step great-grandsons; nieces and nephews; and special friends Stanley Market, Sim Haler, Evening Kiwanis and the friends at Burger King and Lumpy’s.
Mr. Sheets graduated from high school in 1934 at Holton and lived most of his life in Cambridge City. He was first employed by the Indiana School for the Deaf from 1935 to 1940. He joined the Indiana State Police in July of 1940 and retired as Staff Captain in December 1971. He owned an independent insurance agency and real estate business dba: James Sheets and Son Agency from January 1972 to December 2009.
Jim served on the Western Wayne School Board from 1972 through 1992, holding several positions including president, and the Sheriff’s Merit Board from 1972 through 1992. He was a member of the Evening Kiwanis for 40 years and served as president. Jim was a 66- year member of Cambridge Lodge #5 F&AM and earned his 32nd Degree as a member of the Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite. He was awarded the Indiana Sagamore of the Wabash in 1968 by Gov. Branigan, Kentucky Colonels in 1971 by Gov. Ford and the Cambridge City Citizen of the Year in 1991.
Mr. Sheets was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Cambridge City.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 11, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Cambridge City with Fr. Joseph Rautenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. Russell Eugene "Gene" Curl
Russell Eugene "Gene" Curl, 74, of Moorefield, formerly of North Vernon, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011, at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Louisville, KY. He was born April 19, 1936 at West Fork, the son of Ivan and Estella Galey Curl. He married Sheila C. Wilson Curl on November 19, 1977 in Robertson County, TN, and she survives.
Other survivors include son, Robert E. (Rachael) Curl of Holton; stepdaughter, Rebecca E. (Tony) Baker of Dupont; stepson, William David Lenhart and companion Rebecca Zimbleman of North Vernon; grandchildren, Samantha Curl, Richard Smith, Shane Baker and Jonathan Lenhart; sisters, Rosemary (John) Bastin of Bloomington, and Mayme (Tom) Mix of Canaan; brothers, Herb (Katie) Curl of Bloomington, and Francis (Georganna) Curl of Moorefield; sister-in-law, Beulah Curl of Madison; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Merle, Galey, Peter and James Curl; sister Edith Ruby Curl; and brother-in-law, Alvin F. "Bob" Guillame
Mr. Curl was inducted into the United States Army on January 5, 1955, in Indianapolis, and rose to the rank of Specialist Three during the Korean War. He served Company C 79th Engineers Battalion and was honorably discharged from the Reserves on January 4, 1963 from Fort Sheridan, IL, receiving the Good Conduct Medal. Gene was employed with Grote Industries in the maintenance department from May of 1960 until September of 1995. He was a member of the Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion, Madison VFW Post 1969, NRA, and the Holy Cross Church in St. Croix.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison, with Bro. Randy Thieman officiating. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Eulah Evelyn Brown
Eulah Evelyn Brown, 85, of Dillsboro, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born October 31, 1923 in South Fork Ridge, KY, the daughter of Henry Luttrell and Lavennia Green Luttrell. On December 26, 1942 she married Ernest Brown in Kentucky and he preceded her in death in December of 2000.
Survivors include son, Steve (Linda) Brown of Dillsboro; daughter, Judi Brown and Paul Shifflet; three grandchildren, Corey Ernest Brown, Charity Rolfes, and Susannah Rolfes. She was preceded in death by her son, Ernest Brown Jr., in 1960.
Mrs. Brown worked at Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio and later on at Drake Hospital in Cincinnati as an LPN. She and her husband owned a farm on Laughery Creek in Dillsboro where she lived until three years ago when she moved to Ripley Crossing.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, at 2:00 p.m. at South Fork Ridge Baptist Church in Liberty, KY. Visitation will be Friday from 12-2 p.m. Burial will be in South Fork Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Burn Unit at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. Arrangements are entrusted to Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro.

Clint Watson
Clint Watson, 92, of Columbus, formerly of Osgood, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Columbus Health and Rehab Center. He was born at Madisonville, in Hopkins County, Kentucky, on November 5, 1918, the son of Jeff and Ruth Rushing Watson. He was married to Leona Spencer on August 21, 1940, and his wife of 70 years survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Johnson of Columbus; three sons, Clark (Franka) Watson of Sentinel, OK, Paul (Karen) Watson of Dillsboro, and Norman (Karen) Watson of Pell City, AL; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and one brother, John (Esther) Watson of Zephyr Hills, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, and his brothers Clyde, Clifton, Jay and Arnold Watson, and his sister Catherine Tidwell.
Mr. Watson was an electrician and had been employed with the Southeastern Indiana REMC and retired from the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. Clint was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Versailles.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, at 12 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Carter Corbrey officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Cemetery. Louis G. Stegemoller
Louis G. Stegemoller, 87, of Olean passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Waters of Dillsboro Manor. He was born near Olean on April 4, 1923, the son of George and Laura Fisse Stegemoller. He was married to Eunice Stamper Hughes on December 29, 1990 and she preceded him in death on April 27, 2009.
Survivors include stepchildren Vesta Ryan and Rev. Sherman (Muriel) Hughes both of Dillsboro and Charles Hughes of Westville; one brother Harold (Bea) Stegemoller of Versailles; sister-in-law Ethel Stegemoller of Versailles; nine step-grandchildren, 16 step-great grandchildren, and four step-great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, stepson George Hughes, his brother Henry Stegemoller, sisters Miriam Obendorf and Lucy Merritt, and his niece Christine Merritt.
Mr. Stegemoller was a 1942 graduate of Cross Plains High School. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Olean and attended the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship. Louie owned and operated Stegemoller Electric in Friendship for 53 years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4 at 11 a.m. at the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship with Pastor James Culver of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Rev. Sherman Hughes of the Bear Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery at Olean. Visitation is being held today, Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church. Laura Mae Bush
Laura Mae Bush, 78, of Holton passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. She was born near Holton on October 23, 1932, the daughter of Willard and Helen Pickett Lauber. She was married to Wilford Bush and he preceded her in death on April 4, 2002.
Survivors include one daughter Mari Jo (Steven) Butler of Columbus; two sons Randy Bush of Aurora and Jeremy Bush of Holton; three grandchildren Adrienne Butler and Katherine Butler both of Indianapolis, and Dakota Fraley of Franklin; one sister Carol Bart of Peoria, Illinois. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister Rosadell LaFollette.
Mrs. Bush was a homemaker and ran an upholstery business from her home for 30 years. In her younger years she had worked as a nanny for a family in Cincinnati.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 26 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. David Shivers of the Hopewell Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery near Holton. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Baptist Church building fund in care of the funeral home.

George Laub, III
George Laub, III, 53, of Batesville, passed away Friday, February 25, 2011, at his home. He was born January 8, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of George & Shirlene (Peters) Laub.
He is survived by his mother, Shirlene Laub of Batesville; brother, Jeff (Robin) Laub of Milan; sisters, Tori Laub of Madison, and Dawn (Larry) Skaggs of Milan; and seven nieces and nephews.
Mr. Laub was a Navy Veteran and was a welder by trade.
A memorial service will be Saturday, March 5, at 3 p.m. at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, with Father Frank Eckstein officiating.
