The 18th annual Ripley County Chamber of Commerce 5K Run/Walk event participants found Saturday, June 25, as near ideal weather conditions as they could possibly hope for.
Eighty-seven had signed up to compete with only two not attending. A breakdown by sex among event entrants found 60 entering the run and 27 the walk. Of the runners, males out numbered the female entries 35-25, while female walkers outnumbered male walkers 21-6. The entrants' ages ranged from seven to 68.
Top Runners
Ron Perry, behind bib number 36, was the overall first place finisher with his time posted at 18:42. South Ripley Lady Raider freshman runner, Isabella Gramaglia, (#64) captured first place female runner honors with her 5K race finishing time of 22:08.
Top Walkers
Owen Menchhofer, behind bib number 55, walked his way to first place finisher, among the 27 walkers, with his 5K walk time posted at 41:15.
