Car wash thefts being investigated

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office is looking into the report of money being stolen from the Soapy Joe's Car Washes in both Versailles and Milan.

Police say on Tuesday, July 12 between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and early morning hours of July 13, two white males entered the businesses. They were driving what is believed to be a 2008 or 2009 black Pontia Grand Prix. They gained access into the automatic change dispensers and actuators causing damage to the machines and taking money.

The first suspect is described as a white male, middle to late 20’s, approximately 6' tall and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds with darker short hair. He appeared to be well groomed with light facial hair. He was wearing long white basketball type shorts, a white T-shirt, white tennis shoes and a baseball cap at the time of the incidents.

The second suspect is also a white male, middle to late 30’s, approximately 6' tall, weighing approximately 200 to 220 pounds with darker short hair. He also appeared to be well groomed, with a moustache, large belly, wearing light cargo shorts, an orange T-shirt, and dark tennis shoes at the time of the incidents.

The owners of Soapy Joe’s Car Washes is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of those involved with these incidences. Those with information can remain anonymous and can call the sheriff’s office at the above number.
