Burglary charges have been filed on six teenagers in connection with a residential burglary in Batesville, according to Batesville Police Chief Stan Holt.

According to information from the Batesville Police Department, a burglary report had been filed with them on August 31, 2011. But, the actual burglary had taken place on Arlington Drive in Batesville in December of 2010 where jewelry and cash were reported to be stolen.

Jesus Gil, 18 of Batesville, was arrested for Residential Burglary a Class B Felony on November 17, 2011. Burglary and theft charges were also filed on five local male juveniles, ages 16 and 17.

Gil remained incarcerated at the Franklin County Jail until November 22 when he posted a $25,000 bond.

Residential Burglary carries a penalty of up to six to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. Theft carries a penalty of six months to three years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

Chief Holt noted the juveniles in the case may be waived to adult court.
