Richard Chesney

Richard Chesney, 62, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeVries Funeral Home, Dillsboro.

Bill Cole

Bill Cole, 52, of Madison, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, July 20 at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Madison with burial in the Springdale Cemetery in downtown Madison. Visitation will be held today, Thursday, from 1-8 p.m and Friday from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Memorials may be given to the Bill Cole Memorial Endowment, contribution cards are available at the funeral home. Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison, is entrusted with arrangements.

Doug Cole

Doug Cole, 67 of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Virginia on April 11, 1945, the son of Everett and Dorothy Marion Cole. He married Sandy Back on February 11, 1995 and she survives.

Other survivors include his mother Dorothy Marion Cole of New Marion, one son Doug Cole of Indianapolis; two daughters Kim (Mike) Mann of Indianapolis and Vickie Butler of Madison: three step-daughters Cindy (Timmy) Hawkins of Hart County, Kentucky, Vickie (Kevin) Bryan of Nelson County, Kentucky and Wanda (Nathan) Tingle of Bargetown, Kentucky, 16 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; five brothers Kenny (Judy) of Osgood, Paul "Cowboy" (Kim) of Oklahoma, Bobby, Randy both of New Marion, Wendell (Becky) of Benham; five sisters Barb (Dick) Shadday, Brenda (Jim) Smith, Beverly (Fred) Holler, Lori (David) Rudolph all of New Marion, Theresa (Jerry) Mason of Corbin, Kentucky; three brothers-in-law Darrell (Jean) Back of Boston, Kentucky, Sam Back of Louisville, J.R. Back of Hart County, Kentucky, two sisters-in-law Ann Brian of New Haven, Kentucky and Kathy Hagan of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother James.

Mr. Cole was a 1963 graduate of New Marion High School and served our country in the US Army. He retired from Ohio Rod. He was a member of the Versailles American Legion.

Doug loved to hunt, fish and hunt mushrooms, but most of all he loved to "spend a lot of time at the office."

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, at 10:30 a.m. at the New Marion Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Carter officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Versailles American Legion following the service at the church. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.

G. Conrad Green

G. Conrad Green, 54, of Winterville, GA, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 in Smyrna, GA. He was born Oct. 9, 1957 in Milan, the son of John E. and Dorothy (Stevenson) Green. He married Yenny M. Vara Green on March 28, 2003.

Conrad is survived by his wife of nine years, Yenny, and son, George S. Green, both of Winterville, GA, and son Hyatt C. Green (Olivia) of Cincinnati, OH; his mother, Dorothy L. Green of Canaan; two sisters, Terri K. Exmeyer (Clark) of Evansville, and Lorri D. Bartle (Don) of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Robert J. Green (Dena) of Dover, KY; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Green in 1987; his grandparents, Dale & Grace Stevenson and George and Mabel Hyatt.

Conrad graduated from South Ripley High School in 1976 and attended Ball State University and the University of Georgia where he studied art and became a skilled potter.

He enjoyed renovating his home in Winterville and building projects with his young son, George. He loved his family and was always willing to help his friends and neighbors.

Conrad was a member of the Cross Plains Baptist Church and DeMolay. He loved baseball.

Robert Edward Huntington

Robert Edward Huntington, age 70 of Osgood, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at his home in Osgood. He was born April 25, 1942 in Osgood, to the parents of: Charles Leonard & Ruth Pate Huntington, both deceased.

Survivors include special companion: Mary Rheinfrank of Osgood; sons: Robert Lynn Huntington and Ronald Gene Huntington, both of Milan; James Edward Huntington of Brookville; daughter: Teresa Ann VanWinkle of Osgood; brother: George & wife Barbara Huntington of Osgood; sisters: Jeanette Wagner and Pat Pettit, both of Batesville, and Debbie Huntington of Milan; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Mert & John Huntington and one son, Donald Huntington.

Mr. Huntington worked in construction most of his life. He was a Son of the Osgood American Legion and a past Am Vets member of Osgood. Bob enjoyed coon hunting and fishing.

Gladys "June" Kenens Ramey

Gladys "June" Kenens Ramey, 82, of North Vernon, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Friday, July 20, from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services to Hospice of Jennings County.

Harold "Tony" Shook

Harold "Tony" Shook, 79, of Benham, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born near Madison on July 23, 1932, the son of Cecil and Iva Maude Thornton Shook. He was married to Wanda Ferris on March 6, 1961 and she survives.

Other survivors include one son, Michael (Debbie) Shook of Millhousen; three daughters, Theresa (Kevin) Elza of Versailles, Julie (Robert) McConnell of Sunman, and Amanda (Ronald) Lawson of Benham; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one great grandson; one brother, Beverly Shook of Butlerville; one sister, Roberta Isabel of Bass Lake, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ralph Shook, and his sisters Marcella McIntosh and Lillian Hankins.

Mr. Shook was a 1950 graduate of Cross Plains High School and served with the US Air Force in Germany and England during the Korean War. He was a Master Machinist A for 40 years with the Clifty Creek Power Plant in Madison. He was also a volunteer "bell ringer" at Christmas for the Salvation Army.

Tony was a member of the Benham United Methodist Church, the Canaan Masonic Lodge, and the Brown Township American Legion.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 14 at the Benham United Methodist Church with Rev. Howard Bell officiating. Burial was in the Benham Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Brown Township American Legion. Memorials may be given to the Benham United Methodist Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Giovanni Costantino Catalano

Giovanni Catalano, 73, of Columbia Heights, MN., died Thursday, July 5, 2012. He was born May 2, 1939 in Asmara, Eritrea the son of Rocco and Pia Lia Bernardi Catalano. He married Floy J. Wing on May 13, 1972 and she survives at home.

He had worked as a machinist at Spicer Dana in Minneapolis, MN.

Survivors include his wife; sisters, Teresita and husband Melvin Tom Noah of Versailles and Antonietta and husband Keith Olson of Eagan, MN.; daughters, Andrea Catalano of Columbia Heights and Bethiny and husband Thomas Peloquin of Blaine, MN.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 13 at St. John's Catholic Church, Osgood from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Osgood.

Memorials may be made to the family.
